Shure SE 115

Shure SE115
The Shure SE115 is part of Shure’s line of headphones. At first glance some may seem a bit overpriced but the priced is rightly justified by the sound quality they deliver. They are available in the choice of 4 different colors blue, black, pink and red. You can also purchase molds with control buttons and a microphone (SE115m/m+).
What you get in the box:
In the box you get an assortment of silicon and foam ear tips these will suffice for most people. You can also order different foam tips and also flanged tips directly from the Shure website. You also get a handy cleaning tool and a soft case. The case is good for keeping your headphones together but unfortunately offer little protecting. The case is also small and can only house 1 pair of earphones and the included accessories but it does come with a handy karabiner attached to it.
Box contains:
3x           silicon tips (small medium large)
3x           foam tips (small medium large)
1x           earpiece cleaning tool
1x           soft case
1x           Shure SE115 earphones
(Also the standard literacy is included)
Sound Quality:
The sound quality of these headphones are great for music listening they have defined high and mid tones and a clear but somewhat week bass (this is only and issue if you are a big bass listener but for the average listener its fine). The clear sound is produced by 1 second generation dynamic microspeaker. The speaker is one of the best in its class but unfortunately they do not use balanced armatures which some competitors do (even at the same price range). The frequency response is 22Hz – 17.5KHz and have a maximum output volume of 105db. Overall the sound quality is excellent and good for everyday music listening. The sound isolation is good providing you achieve the correct seal they are rated to cancel up to 36db which is good for daily travel e.g. bus and train noise.
Build quality:
They are built out of plastic but they are very resistant and I have not had any issue with them. The cable is Kevlar reinforced and is coated with a thick plastic layer. The cable can be split half way to shorten the length. The headphone jack is gold plated also it has a thin case but it then widens so the use with large and think cases may need an adapter. The earpiece itself is at an angle to increase comfort this does mean that you should really use them in an over ear manner instead of a straight down fashion.
